The 2009 Yamaha V Star 950 is an approachable mid-size cruiser powered by a 942cc air-cooled V-twin engine. It generates roughly 50 to 52 horsepower and 57-58 lb-ft of torque. Featuring a lightweight feel, its extremely low 26.5-inch seat height, 5-speed transmission, and belt drive make it an excellent, accessible ride. It was introduced by Yamaha Motor Company to offer riders a "big bike" presence combined with beginner-friendly handling and a low center of gravity.
