2005 Harley-Davidson VRSCA V-Rod For Sale This 2005 Harley-Davidson VRSCA V-Rod shows just 1,816 miles, putting it about as close to new as a 20-year-old motorcycle can be. Finished in metallic maroon, it represents the base V-Rod configuration from early in the model's production run, and the low mileage means most of what made this bike controversial and compelling when it launched is still sitting here largely unworn. The V-Rod was Harley-Davidson's most radical production motorcycle to date when it arrived, built around the Revolution engine, a 60-degree V-twin developed with engineering assistance from Porsche. Unlike the air-cooled, pushrod V-twins that defined the rest of Harley's lineup, the Revolution is liquid-cooled with dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder, displacing 69 cubic inches (1,130cc) and producing a claimed 115 horsepower, at the time the most power Harley had ever offered in a factory bike. It revs well past what a traditional Big Twin or Sportster is built for, and it's backed by a 5-speed transmission with belt final drive. The chassis matches the engine's departure from Harley convention. The V-Rod uses a hydroformed perimeter frame, a first for the company, with a raked-out front end, long wheelbase, and low seat height that give it a drag-bike stance rather than a traditional cruiser silhouette. The radiator sits up front and center, a visual signature that split opinion among longtime Harley riders but became part of what makes the V-Rod instantly recognizable. The VRSCA was the model that started it all, the base trim the rest of the V-Rod family (Night Rod, Street Rod, V-Rod Muscle, and others) was built from over the years that followed.
