The 2013 Yamaha YZF-R6 is a legendary, uncompromising 600cc middleweight supersport built almost exclusively to dominate the racetrack. It features an ear-piercing 16,000 rpm redline and razor-sharp handling, making it a highly respected but aggressive machine that rewards high-revving track use while sacrificing street-riding comfort. The heart of the 2013 R6 is its high-revving motor built for peak velocity:
Power Output: A 599cc liquid-cooled inline-four pushing 129 horsepower at 14,500 rpm and 66 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm.
Power Band: Power is very docile at low revs; the real explosive acceleration hits hard between 10,000 and 12,000 RPM.
Top Speed: Capable of reaching a true-to-life top speed of roughly 160–165 mph (260 km/h).
Electronics: Relies on a ride-by-wire Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) and variable length intake (YCC-I). It lacks modern rider aids like traction control or ABS.Chassis & Handling
The chassis setup is aggressive, highly communicative, and incredibly rigid:
Weight: Extremely light at a wet weight of just 189 kg (417 lbs).
Chassis: An aluminum Deltabox frame combined with a magnesium subframe keeps the package balanced and highly responsive to corner inputs.
Suspension: Factory-equipped with premium, fully adjustable 41mm KYB inverted front forks and a piggyback rear shock.
Brakes: Dual 310mm front discs clamped by four-piston calipers offer immediate, forceful deceleration. This is a bike that is well known and loved. Sadly this platform has now been discontinued, so get this low mileage example before it's gone! This bike has an aftermarket exhaust for that added attitude and sound.
